DT 08 - Caserta Royal Palace

The Royal Palace of Caserta was built by the Bourbon King of Naples, Charles III, to rival the splendors of Versailles. Set in a beautiful landscape park covering 250 acres, the royal Palace was built for the bourbon King Charles 3rd, who dreamed of another Versailles.

The brick and stone palace is built on a rectangular plan about 250 metres long and 150 metres wide. The façades with outside colonnades are grand and each is pierced with 250 windows.

The royal apartments which lead out of one another are richly decorated with gold stucco and contain empire style furnishings and fine floors.
